We are pleased to announce a new beta release of Protector Suite for Mac 2.0 with support for MacOS 10.6 (Snow Leopard). As part of our Mac community of users, we would like to encourage you to try the latest release and provide feedback to us as we work toward a final release. We will continue to keep you updated as we work to the final release.

We are also pleased to announce a new partnership with LastPass. LastPass provides a browser-based password manager available for Safari, Firefox and Chrome on MacOS. We are currently working with their team to integrate fingerprint authentication.

Unlock the Power of Keychain. The Mac OS keychain is a powerful tool for managing website usernames and passwords, digital certificates, keys and private notes. Protector Suite for Mac supports unlocking of both the default "login" keychain as well as other private keychains that a user may create.

Access at your fingertips. Accessing your personal accounts is now as simple as swiping your finger. Now that you don’t have to remember or enter passwords, you can create “strong” passwords (long and complex), making your personal accounts more secure.

Passwords are vulnerable. In order to cope with countless different passwords, we often write them down on sticky notes or in a spreadsheet. Doing so exposes your personal accounts to someone who walks by your computer, who steals your laptop, or who mines for such data online. Using a common password offers thieves a one-stop-shop for the keys to your accounts, while using simple or obvious passwords such as your pet’s name are susceptible to remote hacking.

Nervous about using fingerprints? Relax. Your fingerprint image is not stored, only a handful of unique features called a “template” which are extracted from your fingerprint and cannot be used to reconstruct an image. Also, concerns related to fingerprints are exaggerated - we leave our fingerprints on objects every day such as cell phones, drinking glasses, doorknobs, etc. The point is: a simple fingerprint image cannot be used to “spoof” or “be inserted” into a UPEK fingerprint reader.
